The castle garden is a gigantic complex. Originally a baroque garden, it was transformed into a contemporary landscape garden and expanded under Duke Friedrich the Pious and his son Friedrich Franz I. It is 127 hectares in size and the largest in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
