Rammelfanger Kaiserlinden (planted 1871)

The proclamation of the Prussian King Wilhelm I as Emperor of the Second German Empire on January 18, 1871 in the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles was preceded by the victory over France (Battle of Sedan 02.09.1870) and the end of the French Empire under Napoleon III. In the period that followed, imperial trees were planted and imperial gardens were created in almost all communities in our area. This was also the background to the planting of the 4 linden trees: the bäunıe were often planted outside the villages. Presumably, after having belonged to the Duchy of Lorraine for a long time, the population did not agree with the patriotism imposed by Prussia from above. Source: Text information board
