In the area are several information boards to the story. Primarily barracks area (later also first reception center for asylum seekers). The houses have not been removed due to other owners of the land - the remaining buildings of the site were on LEG grounds (this took over all former military areas in the 1990s).
In the 1930s several barracks were built in Jena, u. a. also these Flakkaserne in the forest. There were several barracks camps, also prisoners of war and labor camps of Zeiss and camp of Schott. The entire area of the forest is still dotted with old quarries and refuse dumps, and you can find dumps and garbage dumps of the NS and GDR era. So much primitive nature, as it is always said, is not really up there. Even in the immediate vicinity of nature information boards there are rubbish dumps.
