The bunker museum is an underground building complex in the Thuringian Forest near the Frauenwald district of Allzunah in the Ilm district.

Today's bunker is a 3600 m² command bunker from the Cold War era. It was covered and erected under the direction of the Ministry of State Security. Its purpose:

        1. Use as a facility of the MfS,

        2. In the event of war, the alternative command post of the chairman of the district operations command (BEL) Suhl with the closest management staff.

Similar military installations have been built in all GDR districts and have since been destroyed, with the exception of a bunker in Machern near Leipzig. The bunker museum was opened in 2004 and is privately owned. In addition to guided tours through the facility, the museum concept also includes overnight stays in the bunker, which are offered as a "journey through time" and lively history lessons.
