The Schönbrunn dam is located in the southern Thuringian Forest in the municipality of Schleusegrund (district of Hildburghausen, Thuringia). It was put into operation in 1977. The dam is about 20 kilometers south of Ilmenau and 15 kilometers northeast of Schleusingen. The river is dammed by a lock.
