Green Belt Bridge over the Saale

The green ribbon bridge was built in 2009, financed by funds from the EU and the former municipality of Pottiga & the municipality of Berg
The inauguration took place on November 8th, 2009, almost exactly 20 years after the opening of the border, in the presence of many visitors and guests of honor
You can use it to reach the flower mill and the hiking trails on the Franconian side.

The Green Belt Germany runs 1,400 kilometers along the former inner-German border, from the Baltic Sea to the district of Hof. A nature reserve that owes its existence to the man-made former border strip.

The Blumenau mill and the hiking trails on the Franconian side can be reached via the bridge. The area here was a restricted area and border GDR-FRG for over 30 years.
