The church of St. Simon and Judas Thaddäus zu Sparnberg, built in 1437, a branch of the parish of Berg in the Middle Ages, stands on the slope of a hill in the Saale valley, on which once stood a castle. The church has a rectangular floor plan with slanted eastern corners and a square west tower, which merges into octagonal half-timbering on the upper floor. A newer addition is the knight's estate on two floors north of the choir room. The narrow pointed arch windows are of Gothic origin.
