The buildings have a historical background and you should not forget this, if you look at it. It is good that the buildings do not continue to deteriorate, but unfortunately (museum and condominiums) must also give way to the Museum Mile.

In the complex of the planned "KdF seaside resort of Rügen" in Prora, known as the "Colossus of Rügen", there is the Documentation Center Prora. Prora belongs to the Baltic resort of Binz and is located on the Prorer Wiek, the most beautiful bay on the island of Rügen. Here, the approximately 4.7 km long plant was built on behalf of the "Nazi Community Force through Joy" between 1936 and 1939 and to a large extent also completed. The facility is a listed building. It is next to the "Reich Party Rally Grounds" in Nuremberg, the largest closed architectural legacy of the Nazi era. 20,000 people should holiday here at the same time. The "KdF Bath of the Twenty Thousand" is not only a historically interesting example of the use of Modernist architecture under National Socialism, but also a socio-historically important testimony to the efforts of the Nazi regime, the workers, their parties and organizations were smashed in 1933 to pacify and win for the war, habitat and racial policies. The "nerves of the people" should be strengthened for the next war, so an alleged quote from Hitler in the propaganda was surprisingly widespread.
In 2000, the NEUE KULTUR Foundation opened the Documentation Center Prora in order to close a gap in the country's landscape of remembrance. In 2012, the documentary center Prora e.V., which emerged from a circle of sponsors, took over the documentation center.

If you also want to prepare yourself for your visit to Prora or are really interested in the history of this monumental building, you will find the zdf-info documentary in the media libraries: "Megalomania in Concrete - Hitler's Giant Hotel on the Baltic Sea". One learns, among other things, that the concept of Prora, which was borrowed from the then holiday cruise ships. Definitely worth seeing!

At 4.5 kilometers in length you will find here from the Nazi era planned and started building blocks of tourists, which are now completed by wealthy investors and should be used as a hotel, condominiums and holiday complex, It is already gigantic what arose there for a building.

A piece of history in a new light. You just have to see it. A detour to the museum is worthwhile as well.

Impressive as the newly renovated apartments next to the old integrate themselves.

It is interesting to see how the buildings change every time, even if you only come back a few months later.
