Located in the heart of the Teutoburg Forest on the Hermannsweg trail, this building was erected by a coffee merchant. Bremen merchant Hermann Hagedorn planned the pavilion as a vantage point for a large hillside park. Today, all that remains of the park is the chestnut avenue along Apothekerstraße, and, of course, the "Kaffeemühle" (coffee mill). From here, one has a magnificent view of Halle (Westphalia).

The building in the middle of the Teutoburg Forest (intersection Hermannsweg and hiking trail A1) was also built by a coffee merchant. Today only the Kastanienallee along the Apothekerstraße remains of the park. It is still a popular hiking destination and offers a spectacular view over the whole of Halle and the hinterland. Directly in the line of sight, and only a little below the listed pavilion, Hermann Hagedorn's descendants set a monument for him for his great commitment to Halle.
