Just a few kilometers from Borgholzhausen is the Ravensberg Castle. After construction in 1080, it was until 1346 the ancestral seat of the Counts of Ravensberg. Today, the castle is run by a foundation and regularly opens its doors to medieval markets, concerts and educational programs.

The Ravensberg Castle is a partially preserved high altitude castle in northeastern North Rhine-Westphalia. The castle is located about 2.5 km south of Borgholzhausen, directly on Hermansweg, in the Teutoburg Forest. A castle restaurant offers home-baked cakes and freshly prepared food made with local ingredients.

The castle restaurant is furnished in the old forester's lodge, built in 1868. The design is by the Prussian architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Today a wonderful place for a break, in the summer on the terrace, in the winter in the dining room by the tiled stove. Information and opening hours: restaurant-burg-ravensberg.de

From the parking lot it's about 700 m high, although steep, but it's worth it ... you can also sit in the café above ...

Beautiful castle ruins from the early year 1000 with gastronomy. The Aussichsturm is not always open.

Beautiful view. Great ambience and cozy beer garden. Especially when hiking with children, the castle can be well installed as the final destination.

If you still have some time, you can hike well from here to Borgholzhausen. Here is the Café Schulze. In addition, you can taste and enjoy the world famous Ravensberger gingerbread.
