The Spremberger Tower dates from the 13th century and was one of the city's defensive structures. Today the tower is one of the city's landmarks. It was given the characteristic shape known today in 1823. The tower has had one o'clock since 1906. The Cottbus architect Ulrich Sasse put the final touch in 2000. The glazed visitor access for the platform designed as a lookout point was the prerequisite for the opening of the tower.

The landmark of the city of Cottbus is the Spremberg Tower, built in the 13th century. Locals affectionately call it "The Fat One". Along with the city wall, portcullis, moat and kennel, it was part of the city's defenses.

In 1810, a large part of the tower collapsed, and in 1823 it was rebuilt according to Schinkel's plans. Its current height is around 29 meters. With a base diameter of almost 9 meters, it is the "Fat One" of the city. The tower has had an o'clock mark since 1906.

Extensive renovation work has made it possible to climb the tower today. After climbing 131 steps, you can enjoy the view of the city of Cottbus and Lusatia from a height of 28 meters.
