If you are looking for a unique view, then the observation tower in the Cottbus district of Merzdorf is just the thing for you. The tower was opened in 2006 and has since offered a great panorama over the Cottbus Baltic Sea - an artificial body of water that is gradually being created from the former Cottbus-Nord opencast mine. You can reach the viewing platform at a height of 34 meters via a total of 173 steps.

From the approx. 30m high Merzdorf observation tower you can see very well over the (still developing) Baltic Sea or towards Cottbus.
