If you are looking for a unique view, then the observation tower in the Cottbus district of Merzdorf is just the thing for you. The tower was opened in 2006 and has since offered a great panorama over the Cottbus Baltic Sea - an artificial body of water that is gradually being created from the former Cottbus-Nord opencast mine. You can reach the viewing platform at a height of 34 meters via a total of 173 steps.

From the approx. 31m high Merzdorf observation tower you can see very well over the (still developing) Baltic Sea or towards Cottbus. However, you first have to climb 173 steps to the viewing platform to enjoy the spectacular view of the lake and the city. It's worth it 😉😀.
