The Lübben Castle Museum represents a completely new generation of history museums in the state of Brandenburg. Multimedia and audiovisual productions as well as an interactive city model convey city and regional history in a playful and tangible way.
The Lübben Castle, which is actually not a castle at all, looks back on an eventful history. It owes its current appearance with the impressive Renaissance gable to Duke Christian I of Saxony-Merseburg, who had the castle built in 1638 after the old castle was destroyed. After extensive reconstruction work, it now houses the city and regional museum, the castle restaurant and the city library in the adjacent stables.
