The Commerzbank Tower has shaped the skyline of Frankfurt am Main since 1997. The skyscraper was built as Europe's tallest office building. The tower measures almost 300 meters at the top of the antenna and signals its unmistakable tower end to the viewer from afar.

Seen up close, the building impresses with its elegance and extremely successful facade design. In terms of construction, the star architect Sir Norman Foster broke new ground here. The central supply core, which is common in high-rise buildings, is housed in the corner zones of the three-sided building, which enabled the design goal of a light-flooded atrium to be achieved.
The office tower has other outstanding features. At its feet is the perimeter block development, consisting of an event building, a parking garage, shops, a few apartments and a glass-roofed plaza that houses a Commerzbank canteen but is open to the public. Nine glazed house gardens (each 15 meters high) are arranged around the building with 3 units on each side of the facade. A unique frame construction made of steel enables the 34 meter wide gardens to be spanned without support. The load of the 180,000 ton building is carried by 111 bored piles. These 1.8 meter thick anchors extend up to 48.5 meters into the Frankfurt Tiefenfels.

Commerbank AG has its headquarters in the Commerzbank Tower.
There are several other office buildings in Frankfurt that are used by Commerzbank. These include the Gallileo high-rise, the Fürstenhof, the Kaiser Karree, the Commerzbank service center with Europe's largest dealer hall, the Neue Börse campus and the Commerzbank Digital Campus.

After its completion in the summer of 1997, the 259 meter high Commerzbank Tower in Frankfurt am Main was the tallest office building in Europe for years. In addition to its imposing size, the design planned by the British architect Sir Norman Foster impresses above all with its characteristic silhouette rising over a triangular floor plan. In the high-quality interior, the financial group has a pleasant working environment for around 2,500 employees on a floor space of 86,000 square meters.

An important focus of Sir Norman Foster's planning was the development of sustainable building technology. The concept, which was highly innovative at the time, is based in particular on the double-skin climate facade made of glass, which enables natural ventilation nine months a year. Norman Foster himself described the building as the “world's first ecological high-rise” for a reason. Most recently, the Commerzbank Tower received the Green Building Award from the City of Frankfurt am Main.

The interior of the Commerzbank Tower is defined by a 160 meter high atrium that rises from the foyer on the ground floor to the 43rd floor. A special feature are the various roof gardens that can be used as break areas, each of which runs over four floors, arranged in a spiral offset over the entire height of the impressive room. The garden atrium not only enables optimized air conditioning of the building and a significantly improved quality of stay, but also offers fascinating internal perspectives from the internal offices and the surrounding urban landscape.
In order to achieve better orientation and identifiable areas within the building, the 450 square meter theme gardens were designed as different vegetation zones such as desert, high mountains or rainforest with trees up to nine meters high.

Because of such buildings, the city is also called Mainhatten.
