The Niederwartha pumped storage plant is one of the first pumped storage power plants to be realized on a large scale. It is located in the Dresden districts Cossebaude and Niederwartha. The PSW Niederwartha was built from 1927 to 1930 and has a nominal output of 120 megawatts, which can be generated by six sets of machines. Four of them have been shut down.
