The Göpfelstein cave is a karst cave. Once it was used by the Neanderthals as living space. First you come into a large vestibule, which then leads into two different levels of the cave. In and around Veringenstadt there are even more caves that served the first humans as winter quarters: the Nikolaushöhle, the Mühlberg Cave and the Anna-Kapellen-Höhle.

The Göpfelstein Cave (also Göpfelberg Cave) is a karst cave. The former cave is located in the municipality of Veringenstadt. The Laucherttal in the area of Veringenstadt is - next to the Bad Urach area and the Blautal - one of the three most important cave areas in the Swabian Alb. This applies both to the number of caves, their importance for prehistoric research and for research into geological history. The cave is also known as a hyena nest because of its location.
