The high shield wall in the north of the medieval castle complex of Hettingens Castle is still preserved. The wall shows the former connection between the defensive walls and the settlement. Connected to it around 1720 was a residential building as a manor. From 1991 to 1994 the castle was completely renovated and converted into the town hall. In the building there is also the Narrenburg, a carnival museum.

The way up to the castle and town hall is rewarded with a beautiful view. There is also historical information there.

The Hettinger lock is used today as city hall. From there you have a very good view over the city and the valley.
