From the medieval castle of the castle Hettingen the high shield wall in the north is still preserved. The wall shows the former connection between the defensive walls and the settlement. It was connected to 1720 a residential building as a manor. From 1991 to 1994, the castle was completely renovated and rebuilt into a town hall. The building also houses the Narrenburg, a carnival museum.

The Hettinger lock is used today as city hall. From there you have a very good view over the city and the valley.
