The Elligsweg leads up to the "Red Cross", which commemorates the murder of a market woman on the way home to Pfaffenheck, who, after the successful sale of a goat, is said to have been attacked and killed by the notorious and dreaded Peternacher robbers by the blood red color as Murder cross reported.

The cross was last renovated in 2017 by members of the VVV-Boppard.
