Hiking

The Finow Canal is one of the oldest man-made waterways in Germany. He connects the Havel with the Oder. There are 12 historical locks on it. The westernmost is the lock Ruhlsdorf, the easternmost the lock Liepe. At each lock and other historic industrial ruins there is an information board (unfortunately some are smeared with paint).
The canal is exclusively for recreational, sports and passenger shipping available.
Along the Finow Canal leads the Oder-Havel Cycle Path, the former towpath. It is popular with cyclists as well as pedestrians.

Diverse and long industrial history and architecture strung like a pearl necklace. Some seemingly without hope of revival, others in the redevelopment. Interesting how complete industrial plants were implemented and re-used in the past, e.g. the Borsighalle.
