There were probably two predecessors to the current church. One was built of wood around 1200, and the next church stood on fieldstone foundations. This was revealed by excavations in 1997 and 2004. The present church dates back to the 13th or 14th century.
The mausoleum is located on the west side of the church. The mausoleum was built between 1856 and 1857 in the Tudor Gothic style. It was the burial site of the von Arnim-Criewen family, and nine coffins were located here.

Hiking

13th-century fieldstone church, now plastered. At that time it was still in the middle of the village. Next to the church are the graves of the von Arnim family, who owned the castle and estate of Criewen from 1822 to 1945, and those of the von Plessen family.
Church open Wednesday to Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
