At the beginning of the sixties, trees, shrubs and perennials from many parts of the world were planted on a former field.
Thus, the Forstbotanische garden offers nature experiences in every season: rhododendron canyon, heather garden, Pflingstrosenwiese and a Japanese department with cherry and azalea flowers and magnificent autumn color of fanatics and cake trees, bamboo. In a 1.5-hectare forest area, you can discover North American trees such as giant sequoia, yellow pine, river cedar and Coloradotanne.
In the south, the 20-hectare peace forest, created in the 1980s, joins with trees and shrubs from all countries to which the Federal Republic used to maintain diplomatic relations. The tropical and subtropical countries, whose typical vegetation is not hardy here, are represented by symbolic trees.
