The Rysy has 3 peaks: two are in Slovakia, one in Poland. The highest of them (2504m) is in Slovakia. At 2499m, one of the other peaks is the highest mountain in Poland.

The many people (especially when the weather is hot and on weekends) are already a nuisance, but the magnificent view justifies the climb!

From Slovakia over the Rysy to cross the border stone at the summit and then on the Polish side down over Morskie Oko is worth a result.

But you should also get up early ;-)

From the Slovak side, Rysy is relatively quick and easy to climb. An early ascent is worthwhile as it is highly frequented by both Slovaks and Poles. A good starting point is also the hut at Popraske Pleso or even Chata pod Rysmi. The latter is also great for a last rest before the summit, as food and drink are still available despite the altitude - and at reasonable prices thanks to the Sherpas. From the chata, the path leads over a steep snow field, which is sometimes icy - even in summer. Ideally, you should take Grödeln with you. Crampons are not necessary - at least in the summer months.

In the upper third there are chains and running boards, but these are not absolutely necessary if you have normal day luggage and are in good physical condition. There are always traffic jams at these places.

The summit of Rysy is relatively impassable and dangerously close to the abyss. Only a few meters from the summit cross there are rock faces that reach hundreds of meters deep.

The way back should not be taken lightly - especially if you want to walk all the way into the valley, the path is longer than expected.
