Hiking

Yokohama Chinatown (Yokohama Chukagai) is the largest Chinese quarter not only in Japan but throughout Asia. Its history is closely linked to the forced opening of the port for foreign trade (1859). Originally, Chinese immigrants to Japan were not allowed to live outside such neighborhoods; at the end of the 19th century, however, this law was liberalized. Today, Yokohama Chinatown is a tourist attraction, not least because of the extremely high concentration of diners, stalls and shops.
