On the church tower is a forged and gilded crown with over two meters in diameter, the landmark of the "crowning" city of Siegen.

The Nikolai Church is a church building in the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Siegen, the history of which goes back to the 13th century. The church stands on the Siegberg, the settlement center of the medieval old town. The church tower of the Nikolaikirche bears the symbol of the city of Siegen, a forged and gold-plated crown with a diameter of over two meters from the 17th century. As the tallest building on the Siegberg, the church tower with a height of 53 meters and striking red and white paint shapes the silhouette of the city. Source: Wikipedia

A very beautiful church in Siegen's old town. You can climb the tower and have a fantastic view from there. However, you have to find out about the opening hours.

Nice piece - great photo opportunity from the square - the top of the tower is worth seeing

The late Romanesque hall church, with its unique hexagonal central structure and three-aisled nave, was built in the second quarter of the 13th century. Dedicated to Saint Nicholas, patron saint of travelers and merchants, it is one of the medieval urban market churches, which at that time were surrounded by shops and stalls. St. Nicholas' Church, the city church of the Counts of Nassau, has been Protestant since 1530 and the main parish church of the city of Siegen under the Reformed Church since around 1580. From the 16th to the 19th centuries, the rooms, which were then gabled, served as a Latin school. After the Thirty Years' War, St. Nicholas' Church underwent several alterations: the Baroque spire replaced the Gothic spire, and galleries were added inside. To mark his elevation to the rank of prince, the sovereign, Johann Moritz of Nassau-Siegen, had a large wrought-iron and gilded crown placed on the tower in 1658. The "little crown" became the city's landmark. A particularly valuable treasure in the church's treasury is the gilded baptismal font, a piece of Peruvian silver from the 16th century, donated by the prince. Following the destruction of World War II, the striking building received a new west portal designed by Professor Gerhard Marcks.
