Tips

  • Mapf

He is the oldest and at the same time the most beautiful crest stone of the Rennsteig. Set in 1513, it is also the oldest emblem-decorated landmark in Germany.

Extremely rustic log cabin on the former border strip.
The inside of the hut is about 4x2.5m with an additional meter of space on the veranda. Inside there are benches all around as well as a large table, which in its solidity fits very well with the appearance of the hut, but also takes up a lot of space.

Shortly below ("southwest"? In the direction of Dobergrund), after 50 to 100 meters, a brook flows to the left next to the Kolonnenweg. Or you follow the path down to the valley for water. That could be interesting for overnight stays.

Well suited as a place to sleep. Concreted inside, with a large table and bench. Very quiet and idyllic

Clear representation of the structure of the former GDR border fortifications. The tracks are still recognizable today.
