I completed the first stage of the Eifelsteig (thank god) backwards. Since I had been running the day before, this was also quite good. Because one can say that it goes from Kornelimünster after the aqueduct steadily uphill. Although moderate and with only a few very steep passages, but still uphill. Therefore, starting from Rötgen it is a bit more pleasant and faster to run. But whether one way or another in any case Recommended!

Actually, the third stage goes until after Einruhr. That was too far for me for the first day. The tour is splendid to share. In Höfen there are many places to stay and especially meter high hedges worth seeing, even have their own small trail.

A while ago, when I did the tour with my dad. Summer 2011. That's why I created the tour later and am not sure anymore if we have taken the upper or lower route during the last kilometers from the Gaistalalm ... ;-)
But after 15 km and almost 2,000 meters we did not care that much ... But nevertheless, that was one of the most beautiful hikes or mountain tours that I have done so far. However, you should not underestimate the route from the Wetterstein hut! A head for heights and absolute sure-footedness are absolutely necessary.
If you prove all this, you will get your money's worth with this tour!
Leave a comment there, if you've done it ... ;-)Greeting AlgaPS: Here is a slideshow:

Already a while ago, where I did the tour, but still one of my most beautiful! From Hammersbach go first on the same path as the direction of the gorge. At some point, just before the boarding hut, the Stangensteig bends to the right. Following this one experiences the gorge from above. On some beautiful mountain trails you will be guided in places a good distance from the Hammersbach. Until finally, at some point again on the way direction Angerhütte. After a hearty snack and freshly fortified you only then the way you came back. Only the piece through the gorge is in the way this time! The last few meters you are back on the well-known way towards Hammersbach.

Before the tour starts, you should think about whether to use this for the descent or not at the parking lot of the chairlift. Then you should already solve a ticket below.
The entrance to the climb is well signposted from below and is easily found without a map or GPS.
However, one should not underestimate this trail! Although it is not nearly as extreme of the Hm as in the Alps, for example, the ladders sometimes lead downhill, even though they are still in the "climb".
All in all, one should not take lightly the passage to the Engelseiche. Already at the first ladder I met a young man who broke off the tour ...
But all in all a wonderful tour that is worth the effort!

The last leg of Spessartweg 1 is the most demanding for me. Very often uphill and downhill and also the longest part of the way. From Lohr is the first stop Mariabuchen. Here is also the first refreshments. From 11:00 clock with warm kitchen. From Mariabuchen the next section to Halsberg is approached relatively quickly. The fact that this section is located on a plateau, you have here the fewest meters to cope and comes demespruchend well forward. In Halsberg then worth a visit to the village, where you can stop very well! The next section then continues to the ruin Schönrain from where you have a beautiful view of the Main and the region.Due to new bridge construction in Gemünden, we are here then turned off the actual way to Hofstetten, from where you translated by ferry to Langenprozelten. Here you are right at the train station and can go back to Lohr.

Super Tour to "run in" on the climb.
This stage can also be easily started as a round trip. From Hemfurth continue to Sperrmauer (about 30 minutes) and then by boat back to the wharf Waldeck and then walk to the mountain railway. (about 800m)
From there it goes by train back up to the starting point.
