The Schatthausen moated castle with an intact moat was probably built after 1562 on the site of a previously existing manor house by the men of Bettendorf. The east wing dates from this period. From 1665 to 1677 the brothers Gerner von Lilienstein, whose coat of arms as an alliance coat of arms with the Lords of Brüggen still adorns the entrance gate, owned the castle. During this time (1670) it was probably rebuilt, but in an unknown form. The north wing was built around 1720 before it was rebuilt several times and expanded by a manor.
Finally, in 1828 the barons Göler von Ravensburg acquired the now three-wing and three-story castle.
Today it is still privately owned by Barons Göler von Ravensburg and (unfortunately) cannot be visited.

The moated castle is privately owned. You can still look at it wonderfully from the outside. From there you can start beautiful hiking tours.

nice to look at, but as noted by other hikers, the castle is in private hands and can therefore not be visited or viewed from close up ...
