In the 60s, the route of the federal highway 28 was planned through the middle of the Hasbruch. The association "Gesellschaft der Freunde des Hasbruch e.V.", founded in 1964 as a citizens' initiative, was able to prevent the Hasbruch from being divided. Otherwise the hunting lodge would have given way to a motorway service station.
