Kanapee View of the Elbe

A piece above the Basteibrücke there is this great vantage point on the Elbe and mountains. Directly at your feet you can see the famous sandstone cliffs and on the horizon rise the table mountains south of the Elbe.

Many high-heeled tourists do not come down here, and so it's basically the better bastion view. The bastion can then be left out during the day and circulated on the Rahmhanke.
It is especially nice on the view at night: the ferry leaves until after 1 clock (inquire! - season dependent), you walked up in less than 30min and has a great view of Rathen. In the rock niche with a bench you can cuddle up to your loved ones and roast your dinner on the gas stove, or make a mulled wine.
At night you can still walk the few steps to the Bastei Bridge, then there is none ... best in fog, then it drives the swaths spectacular under and over the bridge.
