The water wheel paradise described as a highlight is actually the rest or rebuilt part of the upper sawmill. The upper sawmill was on the Zugbach and had a larger water retention basin above the Sägwaag. The water from this larger basin was used to bridge the gap when the saw came to a standstill and a block had to be sawed through completely due to a lack of water in dry periods or when water was drawn from meadows. The water wheel was made passable by the citizens of Simmersfeld in many hours of free work and is a small attraction along the way. Here, too, the sawmill operation was stopped towards the end of the First World War.
