At the mountain station of the Oberweißbacher Bergbahn, in Lichtenhain, the Fröbelwald has been under construction since 2013. This forest adventure trail is named after Friedrich Fröbel, who was born in the neighboring town of Oberweißbach. He was a pedagogue and the founder of the kindergarten. In keeping with Fröbel's philosophy, the stations convey playful and instructive information on the forest and the history of the Schwarzatal. The information is prepared in a way that touches all senses in order to consciously use the child's activity and play instinct. The accompaniment of children by adults forms the basis of the concept for the Fröbelwald. The hiker John and the mouse Lotte lead the visitors on their way through the forest. The Fröbelwald is open all year round. The visit is free.
