Frauenaurach Monastery is a former Dominican convent in Frauenaurach. The Dominican convent was founded in 1267 by Herdegen von Gründlach. The original monastery was largely destroyed, the remaining remains were removed in 1862. In the interior of the church there are still a few remnants of the original church. The imposing church tower was not part of the monastery complex and was only built in 1717.

Erlangen's oldest malting plant today (Brauhofgasse 10) emerged from the former Frauenaurach monastery. With its dissolution, buildings and rights fell to the Margrave of Brandenburg-Bayreuth in 1549/50, who continued to operate a stately brewery here. At the end of 1750 the brewery was sold to the brewer Eckard. Even in the 19th century, the agricultural character with home-grown barley and hops remained. The Zehgruber couple were the beginning of five generations of brewers and maltsters in 1871, who still run the company today. Under Leonhard Wirth the company was converted into a malting house in 1923, the brewing quota went to Brauhaus Nürnberg AG.

The recently restored romantic portal is one of the oldest preserved parts of the building.

The striking church tower with the onion-shaped spire was completed in 1717 and today houses four bells. From up there the hymns of our trombone choir sound in the summer months on Sunday morning and invite you to the service
