The Pioneer Tunnel is a passable tunnel for hikers. The tunnel is located in the course of the Pionierweg, a hiking trail also referred to in the past as Magdeburger Stieg, above the Selketal between Alexisbad and Mägdesprung. Not far from the tunnel is the pioneer cliff. The Pioneer Tunnel was struck through the rock from 14 to 19 May 1900 as part of an exercise by the 2nd Company of the Magdeburg Pioneer Battalion No. 4. In parts, the tunnel was driven in mining form.

An approximately 10-meter-long breakthrough. There is no way around it. In the truest sense of the word "we have to go through".

Charming, rustic path with wonderful views. Even our 16-year-old dachshund mix has mastered him.

At the exit of the tunnel in the direction of Alexisbad, the lovingly designed wooden struts catch their eye, as they used to be in mining tunnels.
