The Alexius Cross was erected near Mägdesprung in memory of Duke Alexius Friedrich Christian von Anhalt-Bernburg. During the Second World War, the cross was shot through and fell down into the Selketal. It was only salvaged in 1994 during the Selke flood and rebuilt a year later.

A distinctive point at the end or if you go from Mägdesprung, at the beginning of the hike. From here you can look very well into the landscape. Next to it is the Mägdetrappe.

Fascinating story that surrounds the cross. It was shot down from the mountain in World War II. Straight through. There was a lot going from the mountain to the Selke and was not recovered until the water of the century in 1994 and then set up again. And that on a voluntary basis. Respect. 👍
