Scoppieto is a village of pre-Roman and Roman origins as evidenced by the archaeological excavations that brought to light the base of an Italic temple. Subsequently, in the Augustan era, in the first century. d.c., Scoppieto became famous for the production of quality tableware that was exported all over the Mediterranean. In the Middle Ages it was not fortified because of its perched position with a single access road, easily defensible. The village enjoys a beautiful panorama on Lake Corbara and is surrounded by thick vegetation.
