The St. George's tunnel is an experimental structure from the 18th century. The 135m long facility, which was still accessible in 1971, shows no signs of a large ore deposit. The entrance is now closed off by a grate and only a little of the tunnel entrance can be seen.

In 1773, the Calw merchant Johann Jakob Zahn put the mine back into operation. A new tunnel (Georg tunnel) with a length of 135 m was opened up northwest of Liebelsberg.
With the revival of the Herman Hesse Railway (train connection Calw - Weil der Stadt - Renningen), the Georg tunnel is now used as an alternative habitat for the bats.
