The Hohes Venn family forest lies on the edge of the Steinley Fens: Coordinates: N50 ° 36.125 E6 ° 14.055In spring 2008, the Eifelverein OG Konzen took over the sponsorship for an approximately one hectare Venn and forest piece. This includes constant maintenance measures, so that above all the typical and characteristic Venn vegetation can develop. In addition to the trees and shrubs that naturally grow there, such as spruce, pine, birch, willow, forest and bunch berries, typical Eifel plants and trees such as beech and hornbeam, wild apple, mountain ash and service tree were planted. All trees and shrubs together form an educational forest and an educational trail, accordingly they are marked and signposted. A biotope was also created - a peat bog, also characteristic of the High Fens. Access to this forest and venn piece in Konzen on Belgian territory, directly in front of the "entrance" to the famous Steinley Venn, is possible at any time and also free of charge.

Very nice place for a rest. Several benches and tables as well as the spacious refuge invite you to linger.
The Hohes Venn family forest was officially opened on May 9, 2009 with a big party. Around 300 children and adults came on "Europe Day" to celebrate, to experience and explore the family forest.
My respect goes especially to the members of the Eifelverein OG Konzen, the Konzen Family Center and the Elsenborn Forestry Office, who take care of the maintenance and care of this beautiful area.

Unfortunately, the bridges in the first third of the tour are badly damaged and therefore difficult to pass (see photos). Parts are even locked, but there is an alternative route. In sunshine, lizards sunbathe on the jetties. If you behave quietly, you see them :-)

In the comments, especially Venn hikes, but also in others, I noticed that the reviews are often so hard and in the wrong place as if the critic had bought the trail. Please keep in mind that almost all hiking trails of local associations (Eifel association, home associations etc.) are maintained by volunteer members during their free time. Happy that there is such a thing, without which you can hike on the highway. To date, only 1 (one) tip was correct for this highlight, all others in the wrong place
