The Church of St. Matthew was built around the year 1000. It is a so-called choir tower church, with the choir room in the basement of the tower. The church got its present shape from the renovation in 1626 with an expansion of the nave to the north. The tower and south wall remained. In 1700, instead of the half-timbered storey with a walkway, a massive bell room made of sandstone blocks and a Dutch hood with a lantern were added to the tower.
