The Ackeburg was first mentioned in 1216 near the village of Akkeburg, of which nothing is left, since 1400 as abandoned or destroyed.
The castle complex, which consisted of a main and outer bailey with a moat and several ramparts, had a main castle about 30 m in diameter standing on a rocky hill.
