In 1970, the municipality of Haag leased the castle park, which was not accessible at the time, from the castle owner and began renovating the network of paths and the ponds. The zoo started with a bear enclosure. Over the years, numerous new animal species have been purchased and the zoo has been expanded. In the 1980s, a bird voice trail was also laid out. In the 1990s, the animal enclosures, such as the big cat enclosure or aviaries, were expanded and expanded.
Today, 700 animals from 70 animal species await the visitor.
