Hiking

The name Vinxt is derived from the Latin finis for border. In Roman times, the stream marked the border between the provinces of Upper and Lower Germania and in the Middle Ages, at times, that between the duchies of Upper and Lower Lorraine. Today the Vinxtbach is the dialect boundary (Vinxtbachlinie). Ripuarian dialects are spoken to the north and Moselle-Franconian dialects to the south.
