The Farrnbach is a 22.6 km long tributary of the Regnitz.
A bridge is said to have existed as early as 1734. In 1830, an arch bridge made of sandstone with two central pillars was built at the same time as the castle in Burgfarrnbach. In 1959, a pedestrian walkway made of precast concrete was added to this structure.
    Today's bridge is from 1977.

Since 1997, the previously straightened Farrnbach has been renatured by the Nuremberg Water Management Office in the Mühltalstraße area, taking the course of the stream from 1948 as a guide. This created small biotopes that provide nesting sites for birds and insects as well as spawning grounds for fish and hunting grounds for wading waterfowl.

In the Farrnbach there are trout, Aitel and white fish.[9] The ponds fed by the Farrnbach are stocked with zander, carp, grass carp, tench, silver carp, pike, crucian carp and eel.[6][10]

As part of efforts to reintroduce the crayfish (Astacus astacus) to Middle Franconia, the Farrnbach was stocked with these animals in 2005 in the city of Fürth
