Helligkorsgade 18, known as Santa's House, is the oldest gabled house in Kolding from 1589. The front door says: "O Lord, if you want to keep our house, it stands for all fear and danger. HI and DH 1589" , but it is not known who built the house.Until 1915 shoemakers lived in the house. Cobbler master Jakob Møller took over the house from Jens Borch's widow Ida Margrethe in 1813. The last was master shoemaker P. Martin Møller, son of the aforementioned Jacob Møller, he took over the house with his brother in 1881, later from 1902 P. Martin Møller himself lived in the house until his death in 1915.In 1915 a consortium consisting of the giants IO Brandorff, the goldsmith Holger Kyster and the consul wheels arranged the restoration of the house and 4 smaller apartments. In 1937 the municipality of Kolding took over the house and an office for the tourist office Kolding was established on the ground floor. Today it is given to art exhibitions and the like.

You don't have to go to a museum to experience history. In the streets of Kolding you will find history everywhere.
The house at Helligkorsgade 18 is one of the oldest surviving houses in Kolding. In the pediment, which can be seen in the idyllic courtyard, there is a cannonball from the Battle of Kolding in 1849 in connection with the Three Years' War.visitkolding.de/geschichte
