The Danube infiltration in the health resort Möhringen near Tuttlingen is unique in the world. Here in the summer months there is a riverbed without water. The Danube percolates at low tide in the summer in the karst rock, in winter as well, but only partially. The duration of infiltration has been steadily increasing in recent decades.

The water flows underground for about 60 hours until it drops 183 meters lower and about twelve kilometers as the crow flies distance in the Aachtopf again.

In many places is good to observe that the flow flows sideways or even backward. This is an unmistakable sign of seepage.

Unfortunately today with lots of water - so I did not come into the enjoyment of the natural wonder. An inspection or crossing of the riverbed was out of the question.

The information boards of the Premiumwanderweg clearly explain the phenomenon.
