Located 13 km southwest of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, right at the foot of the Zugspitze, is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Bavarian Alps - the Eibsee. Created more than 3000 years ago by a landslide, the mountain lake belonging to Grainau offers a variety of sporting activities and excursions.
In addition to various hiking trails, the mountain lake invites you to swim in summer. A beautiful lake that can be easily circumnavigated without private property blocking the way

We drove with the Zugspitzbahn from Garmisch to Zugspitzplatt. There we are on the glacier in August. Then we went by cable car to the summit, a fabulous experience, as we had a sensational television viewing. On the way back we did a pedal boat ride on the Eibsee. Then it went by bus home.

Beautiful path around the lake, unfortunately in the high season very crowded - but you can avoid it, if you know it.
