The architecture of the new building of the Capanna Cristallina from 2002 is one of the radically modern concepts: a wooden cuboid on a massive natural stone base occupies the pass height as a bar. The Ticino architects Baserga and Mozzetti won the competition, which the section had proclaimed; The construction time was only a few months thanks to the prefabricated wooden elements of the structure. With the construction, they have succeeded in creating a real landmark and a calming spot in a rugged mountainous environment.
