The viewer has a wonderful view of the Rhine and the Rhine orange opposite if one follows the old towpath on the river bank in Homberg away from busy streets.

When steam shipping was not yet invented, the ships on the Rhine were “grazed” upstream - that is, they were moved with human or horse power. Long ropes were used to pull the ships against the current to the port of Duisburg. The large Rhine ships with around 150 tons of cargo pulled up to 30 horses on the towpath on the Tau.
Due to the perfection of the steam drive, the treble was forgotten and today you can cycle along the old path wonderfully flat along the banks of the Rhine.

Because of the preparation for a new Rhine bridge in Essenberg ("A40 bridge"), the towpath on the Rhine is not possible, so I recommend using Duisburger Straße when driving up the Rhine (to Rheinhausen, Ürdingen or Cologne).
