Main parish church of Prenzlau. The church is one of the brick Gothic churches richest in architectural decoration in northern Germany. From 1235 to 1250 the previous building was built as a stone church. From 1289 to 1340 the church was rebuilt as a Gothic hall church 56 m long, 26 m wide and 22 m high.

From 1289 to 1340, the new church was built as a Gothic, three-aisled hall church in the style of brick Gothic, incorporating the western part of the previous building with its field stones. The spacious church with seven yokes is 56 meters long, 26 meters wide and 22 meters high; the ridge is 43 meters high today. It was built in two sections, the border of which runs along the stairwells. It has a relatively straight but apsidal east end for each ship. The building is considered the first hall church east of the Elbe.

In the 14th and 15th centuries, the addition of the Christophorus chapel and the two-aisled Margaret chapel were added on the south side. The ribbed vault of the Margaret Chapel was preserved.

Due to its sophisticated construction, the magnificent eastern facade of the show is considered to be "unique" in brick Gothic; Dehio describes them as "colossal" and "further development" of the Marienkirche in Neubrandenburg. The vestibules are therefore only slightly designed with two polygon sides in the side aisles and three in the central aisle.

At 22 meters, the gable is as high as the vertical choir wall. The six buttresses end in delicate pinnacles. A window-like design with rod and tracery made of red and black glazed stones, with composing eyelashes and with tracery friezes complete the picture of the display facade.

The Marienkirche, whose roof structure was destroyed after the end of the war (in connection with the city fire probably caused by the rest of the Nazis) and caused the Gothic vault to collapse, is now being restored and the Gothic vault and organ are to be restored.

Very well preserved and impressive building. You should have done a blink from the outside and an inspection from the interior.

A very impressive church building. It is constantly being restored. Unfortunately, the towers have not been accessible for some time.
