In Ried, things are going uphill at this point. The church of St. Kilian can be seen on the right.
Ried is a district of Ebersburg in the Fulda district in East Hesse.
The Rhöndorf is mentioned for the first time in a list of goods of the Johannesberg Propstei from around 1160 ("Rida" = settlement on the Ried, swamp meadow). In addition to the Fulda Monastery, the Lords of Ebersberg von Weyhers and those of Tann were wealthy.
The fortified church from the 15th century was dedicated to St. Kilian in 1516 (July 8th titular festival). In the church there is a late Gothic wooden sculpture of St. Kilian. A fortified cemetery wall with an arched gate has been preserved around the church.
A stone high crucifix dates from 1847, two shrines from 1770 and 1982, two stone figures from 1849 and around 1900. There are also boundary stones from the first half of the 19th century in the western district.
During excavation work in 1982 on the mill weir of the historic "Lower Mill", oak beams were found, the date of which was dated around 1520/1530 and identified as part of a large cross. The parts are again placed as a cross on the southern wall of the house and consecrated to the church.
The war memorial is located next to the fortified church.
