The Château d'Hougoumont (also called "Goumont") is a walled farm, which was the scene of the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. After being left to his own fate for a while, he was restored a few years ago and finally opened to the public in June 2015, exactly 200 years after the battle.

After the Battle, most of Hougoumont's buildings were destroyed or set on fire. The walls of some of the buildings of the complex that had survived were riddled with shrapnel and bullet holes. The condition of the trees was appalling: torn branches and leaves, trunks torn apart. Little more than a ruin remained of the castle and it was of course uninhabitable. All that remains now are the foundations.

Château d'Hougoumont (originally Goumont) is a walled farm compound, situated at the bottom of an escarpment near the Nivelles road in the Braine-l'Alleud municipality, near Waterloo, Belgium. The site served as one of the advanced defensible positions of the Anglo-allied army under the Duke of Wellington, that faced Napoleon's Army at the Battle of Waterloo on 18 June 1815. The chateau became an epicenter of fighting in the Battle of Waterloo as it was one of the first places where British and other allied forces faced Napoleon's Army. Hougoumont, which had become dilapidated, was fully restored in time for the 200th anniversary of the battle and opened to the public on 18 June 2015.
